Automated Wireless Patient Transport Dispatch System

Your Business”, unveiled MDA TransQuest, their new Automated Patient Transport Dispatch System, at the National Conference on m-Health and EOE.

According to Al Maxey, Vice President, MDA Technologies, “MDA Transquest is a proven success. While it was just unveiled at the Conference, the system has been in place for the past 3 years at Potomac Hospital in Woodbridge, Virginia. Here it has been tested on hundreds of thousands of transports enabling the hospital to more efficiently manage, schedule, and track transports. It’s a proven concept that we look forward to sharing with other hospitals who need a low-cost, leading edge software product to automate their patient transportation process.”

With the MDA TransQuest, transport requests are entered on the hospital intranet. These requests along with pertinent patient information are received by transporters equipped with a standard wireless Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) system. A transporter accepts a dispatch and completes the task. All transport data is recorded while the system remains available to other transporters.

Mr. Maxey added, the wireless system, “automatically prioritizes and schedules transport requests; improves the accuracy of pick-up times; and automatically assigns requests to the next available transporter. As a result, it eliminates dedicated transport dispatch personnel freeing them up for other duties.”

Over 280 IT and Healthcare representatives attended the Conference which focused on “The Future of Healthcare Through Communications” and addressed how mobile communications is changing and improving healthcare delivery
and practice. The Conference was held at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina in San Diego, California on December 12 - 14, 2005.
